Prov 14:12 There is a way which seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death.

I write today warning about the false teachings and false philosophies of the current day.  The wise Solomon recognized that there is a way that seems right to man, but if we follow this way it leads to death and certain separation from the God who created mankind in His image.  What are these “ways” and how can we be certain that we do not follow them?  Could we call these ways a way of life or perhaps it is some understanding that we have about something which is not consistent with the truths of the Bible?

God has revealed Himself and his precepts to us both through general revelation and special revelation.  General revelation is available to all at any time, examples are the physical universe and human conscience.

A.      Physical universe: Psalm 19:1-4 says “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge. There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard. Their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the end of the world.”  Romans 1:19-20 says “...that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse.”

B.      Human conscience: Romans 2:15 states “…[even pagans] show the work of the Law written in their hearts, their conscience bearing witness and their thoughts alternately accusing or else defending them”.

Special revelation is that which God has revealed about Himself and His truth at specific times and to specific people, using specific acts such as miracles, dreams, audible voice, visions, angel messengers, and prophecy…and of course through the Earthly life of Jesus Christ and through the written scriptures.  Hebrews 1:1-3 states that “God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world. And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power. When He had made purification of sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high”.

If the way of life you choose to lead is not based upon a thorough understanding of God’s myriad revelation of who He is and His design and plan for mankind, even if your way of life seems right to you now…I caution that it will lead to death and separation from living and one true God…the God of the Bible.  Purpose in your heart today to learn who God is and what His plan and expectations are for your life.  Written by Keith A.
